PLAN01 Architects answers the needs of the practical process of burial in the future. By looking at the funeral with a cremation trend that is currently often done and will continue to increase in future, PLAN01 Architects designed The Circle Rennes Metropole Crematorium Vern-sur-Seiche, France.
Since 1970’s, cremation has experienced a slow but regular progress for the last 20 years, reaching a 29% rate today. In 2030, cremation is going to be the main burial practice in France, and predicted to reach50% rate of total burial progress. This true reversal of traditions underlines the progressive spreading of cremation, both geographically, outside major urban centers, and socially, religious and older people are less opposed to cremation.
