Villa House in Salatiga, Indonesia by Renon Property

Villa House is located in Salatiga, Indonesia, a plateau area near Merbabu mount, Central Java. This project is done by Renon Property team which accomodated the concept from the client who want to have a private house with villa nuance. This concept is match with the Salatiga condition which are quite cool and has beautiful views.

This house design has some challanges that should be overcame by the architects. One of the challenge is ± 9.5 acres hilly land with irregular level pattern. After a long detail discussion with the client, the architects decided to bring this dwelling to the Villa House in the middle of the area. This concept make the master bedroom and living area can also be directly in contact with an open area.

Another interesting thing of this Villa House is the Dining area which is in the outside area. Kitchen, Mini Bar and Lounge Area also available in this area so as to create a comfortable outdoor area to congregate.

For the building itself, The architects make the concept of tall and strong building appear in this project, which is manifested by the hight of the roof of the building and also accompanied by the addition of the top of the grill so that it adds the luxury of this Villa House.

Beach House Inspired, Salvado Street Residence by Bates Smart Architects

Beach house design is always interested to be discussed here. And an architecture firm which has two offices in Melbourne and Sydney, Bates Smart Architects has designed a beach house the Salvado Street Residence in Perth, Australia. This residence is for retired couple and located in Cottesloe, Western Australia. So this beach house design is made for a compact and low maintenance residence. Inspired by a beach house, the Salvado Street Residence is a modernist house with a clear and rational design. Some adjustment is implemented for full fill the needs of the owner.

Bates Smart Architects’s Description:
The design draws inspiration from modernist ideals of living which are tempered by a critical regionalist response to climate and place. Minimal lines and planar forms reference its modernist inspiration whilst materiality and detailing draw from a local palette of materials.

The planning concept is based on a courtyard typology featuring a pond, around which the private spaces and the public entertainment spaces are organized. This duality is emphasized architecturally by separate treatments of the private and public spaces: the public spaces are open plan, outward-oriented and unenclosed spaces gathered under a floating Miesian roof whilst the private spaces are inwardly focused and enclosed within thick masonry walls which create a sense of privacy and retreat.

The Salvado Street Residence, drawing simultaneously on the spatial qualities of the International Style and the regional context of coastal Western Australia, reveals a unique take of contemporary Australian Architecture.

House Design : Glowing Hurtado Residence by Mark Tracy

This house design project was aimed to present art gallery nuance into a private residence. Really challenging house design concept to be realized. This 10,000 square feet house is located in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is Mark Tracy, american designer of Chemical Spaces who become architects of this house design. It is called as Hurtado Residence which is consists of three level and divided into 3 spaces. This house design used spectacular lighting both for its interior and exterior. Maybe this is influenced by Las Vegas city nuance that very glowing every day. This project take almost 2 year, started from design in June 2009 and construction was completed in January of 2011.

Mark Tracy’s Description:
The intent of this design was to create a modern, art-gallery-style space to entertain hip, young guests and party goers. The 11-foot custom-designed aluminum front door opens to striped Italian floor tile, a three-story elevator tower surrounded with custom art, and a floating staircase trimmed with stainless steel. A 14-foot wide fireplace is the primary feature of the kitchen and living space, accompanied by Scavolini cabinets and metallic silver hardwood floors. Blue LED lighting glows around the second tier ceiling which extends from the kitchen and down the media wall and fireplace; it also accents the ceiling of the master bath.

The residence is located in The Ridges, an upscale custom home community to the west of Las Vegas nearing Red Rock Canyon.

Nico Van Der Meulen Architects has made a house designthat phisically like a hotel or villa. This project is located in Johannesburg, South Africa. This minimalist house design is quite big with complete features like indoor swimming pool, mini bar and also small lobby. The owner seems to create hotel atmosphere in his private dwelling.

Joc House consist of two floors, the first floor is mostly used for all features mentioned above. The second floor is used for private room like bedroom, living room and also relaxing room. The architects give more acces for the sunlight to the inside of this house. They use large glass window with playful arrangement.

House Design : Ravine Residence by Hariri Pontarini Architects

Ravine Residence is designed by Hariri Pontarini architects. Toronto-based architects firm which was established in 1994 employed two volumes for this house design. Simple box shape was implemented in both volumes.

House Design – Ravine Residence

In the backyard, a swimming pool was placed and could be enjoyed from the balcony on the second floor of this house design. The water reflected the house quite well. Hariri Pontarini architects carefully choreographed openings that address the public street while maintaining the importance of domestic intimacy and privacy.

The back of the house takes advantage of its ravine setting with a design of transparency that maximizes the natural light and provides natural landscape vistas. Employing a vocabulary of enduring materials of French limestone, roughcast stucco, and teak windows, the house underscores the clientâ€™s desire to create a generational home.

The Lookout House is a home remodeling project which is done by Ike Kligerman Barkley Architects. This house is located in Fairfield County, Connecticut. The existing house was built in 1979 with eccentric structure of the property. And this is maintained in this renovation project as owner request.

Project description from the Architects:
The original pyramid form of the house, which is centered on an open-plan double-height living space surrounding an indoor pool, was lightened and simplified with a contemporary material palette (including bamboo, blue stone, and glass tile) and a new lighting program. A glass bridgeâ€”an â€œarchitectural synapseâ€ that clearly differentiates old from newâ€”connects the main house to the master suite. Like the original structure, the new suite is a large volume enclosing a smaller oneâ€”in this case, a freestanding cube, finished in claro walnut, that divides the sleeping and bath areas.

House Design : Mosman House in Sydney by Corben Architects

Mosman House is designed by Corben Architects in Sydney, Australia. Mosman House Design is two level luxurious house design which takes maximum advantage from outstanding water views. So this house is north facing and sited on a battle axe block to realize that purpose.

This project is actually house design renovation project to replace a small older style single level house and had to be skilfully designed to adhere to local approving authority’s view sharing policy and ensure minimal view loss to the neighbours behind.

Mosma House Design – Corben Architects

The house design is concealed behind a timber battened garage door and entry gate to the street but then reveals itself as one enters the site and moves through the landscaped garden from the front gate to the front door. Only glimpses of the panoramic water view that lies beyond are revealed along this journey.

It is only upon entering the house and moving into the large open plan Living/Dining/Kitchen that the full impact of the stunning view is felt. The substantial living space with its large sliding windows and high ceilings flows out and becomes one with the outside encouraging the indoor/outdoor lifestyle.

The main entry, two living areas and guest wing are located on the middle level with three bedrooms on the upper level, the main one designed as a luxury suite. The lower level incorporates a large rumpus / media room and store areas.

The building is a simple rectilinear form of concrete and masonry construction, carefully layered with timber battening and sandstone cladding to present a modern home with a focus on natural materials and clear design principles.

The interior finishes incorporate American Oak timber floors to the living areas, Grey Limestone honed stone floors to the circulation areas, Walnut veneered joinery, white polyurethane cupboards, Quartz kitchen benchtops and Marble slabs in the bathrooms to create a contemporary, sophisticated interior with a warm inviting feel.

Energy saving options were adopted including an operable skylight over the central core allowing natural light and ventilation, timber slated screens provide sun control, concrete floors and roof to provide thermal mass and Energy Efficient glazing to the external windows and doors. The house design also consists of a rainwater harvesting system comprising of 30,000L rainwater tank which is used for garden irrigation and flushing of toilets.

The finished house design is a fine example of an understated but luxurious house that takes maximum advantage of a difficult site.

The River Road House by Hughes Umbanhowar Architects

The River Road House is designed by Hughes Umbanhowar Architects. This three level minimalist house is located in Sewall’s Point, Florida. Not like other minimalist house design, this river road house has complicated design, consist of spatial boxes. The architects plays unsymmetrical boxes to get artistic shape of the this house. This technique needs accurate calculation for concrete support. The beauty if this house increase significantly with availability of large swimming pool. The swimming placement could be enjoyed from the top balcony.

The Description from The Architects:
The 12,300-square foot house, completed in 2008, is a complex composition, reminiscent of the canvases of Georges Braque, in which geometric forms appear and disappear in a constant dance of illusion and materiality. The house comprises a series of distinct, yet interlocking rectilinear volumes conjoined by a transparent longitudinal axis. Positive volumes are balanced atop negative creating a heightened tension and intrigue. A glass-skinned throughway connects and distinguishes the two dominant volumes, or towers, capturing light and adding to the sense of interior capaciousness. Exterior glass, limestone, stucco and mahogany outline, augment and anchor what otherwise might be a cacophony of disparate forms.

Whether allegro, andante or largo, the varied rhythms of the internal structure are adroitly composed. Denizens move with leisure or efficiency, depending on need and mood. Interior spaces are carefully orchestrated to conceal and reveal dramatic views to the water. Surprise and delight are amplified by skillful interior and exterior framing. In the same way, the arrangement of program and use moves inhabitants through a logical gradient from public to private space, from activity to slumber, from conviviality to introspection. At either end of the longitudinal axis that connects the two domestic partitions, separate stairways enhance circulation and provide discrete access to the three-storied parapets.

The gracious interior is highlighted by the use of Mahogany, Minnesota Limestone, and plaster finishes. Afternoon sun is mitigated by aluminum louvers and astute structural arrangement. The bulthaup kitchen is enhanced by a sliding window wall which opens to an exterior courtyard, further collapsing the distinction between exterior and interior space, and thereby underscoring the sense of spontaneous yet calculated arrangement.

Vaucluse Renovation Project by Bruce Stafford Architects

A renovation project of a house is always challenging. Why? Because the architects ideas should match with the existing house. Not so easy when the architect start their design for new house. But for Bruce Stafford Architects, renovation project become as easy as new house design. Bruce Stafford Architects already finished the renovation project of Vaucluse House in Sydney, Australia.

The existing house which was originally an 80â€²s style multi-tenancy building in Sydney, Australia, become starting point of the new design. But this renovation project is rather extreme, only the external walls were retained to comply with the approved council envelope. A completely new look for the house was designed, both inside and out. Dramatic views of the harbor and the siteâ€™s natural amenities were maximized.

K3 House is a renovation project which is done by Bruce Stafford Architects. This K3 House is located in Sydney, Australia. Open space concept become the choice of the Architects to renovate this house. The techniques to realize this concept are by using large sliding glass doors in the main living area enable a seamless flow between inside and outside. The connection between interior and exterior of this house is quite blend.

This dramatic renovation centers around a spacious internal courtyard defined by natural rock face and lush vegetation. The living areas also have the added benefit of glazing on the north faÃ§ade which opens up the house to the view. The master suite pavilion, perched on the highest portion of the rock face, has been designed as a sanctuary for the parents, whilst maintaining a birdâ€™s eye view over the living areas.
