The concept of this extension project clearly explained by AR Design Studio:
The concept was to provide a clean and light architectural intervention alongside the traditional shell of the building which would positively affect the feel and functionality of the property. The spaces are designed to accentuate a play between light and dark; contrasting from the bright and open communal spaces to the more subtle and secluded, almost cave-like retreat spaces in the old house. The existing layout was clarified; vertical voids were cut through the house to unite the cellar, ground and first floors and redirect the flow of the house to naturally draw the user towards the new glass space at the heart of the home.

This extremely light and spacious frameless glass extension houses the open-plan kitchen, living and dining areas. As the delicate structure reaches over to form the walls and roof of the extension, it creates a flexible inside/outside space allowing sunlight to flood through the home and filter down gradually, creating beautiful shards of light and shadow.

As a contrast to the extension, the formal lounge, study and dining room have a more sheltered and embracing nature. Upstairs, the Glass House has 4 large double bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom. The master suite has its own walk-in wardrobe and views overlooking the garden and the top of the glass extension below. All the essentials have been accounted for, in the form of utility and laundry rooms, study and WC that flank the glass box.

The strategic placement of the large roof light floods the entrance hall with sunlight that tracks through the double-height space with the time of day and the seasons. Timber ceramic tiling was used as an innovative alternative to traditional timber flooring because it does not discolour in the weather and is a perfect surface to compliment the underfloor heating throughout. This allowed for a seamless floor finish running from the inside to the outside onto the cantilevered patio.
The rest of the house is finished to a minimal and clean appearance to allow the functional glass structures to stand out as exquisite pieces of sculptural art in their own right.

Whilst still retaining a subtle street appearance, the finished property now renamed Clarkes, is completely transformed from its previous gloomy and decrepit nature. The modern renovation and extension creates a light, airy and open living environment bursting with traditional values, contemporary style and innovative design.

Therefore, our designing strategy is creating a living room, family room and dinning room without walls and for creating privacy in the living room, a two side TV cabinet furniture as high as 210 cm is placed between living room and family room. From the family room, the family member could watch TV and from the living room side, the client can take advantage by utilizing this as souvenir or knickknacks gallery.

The client is typically hard worker, and to support his activity, he need a large workspace. The working room is placed in the second floor and side by side with sitting room, in the hope serves to relax when the work is over, and also to receive his clients.

To facilitate communication between space of the first and second floor, a void is made on the second floor near the work space. Void here serves dual purposes:

- To see who the guest coming that can be viewed from the second floor
- Creating monumental/grand nuance in the living room, so although the house is small but results will impress magnificent and luxurious.
- To facilitate communication between space of the first and second floor.

Overall theme of this house design is a minimalist tropical house design, because the architecture is suitable for tropical climate with the typical high intensity rainfall.

Indeed, the pink color is identically with women or more commonly associated with the feminine. If it is so, make sure you do it right. It should not all the bedroom walls painted with that colors, due to it might create the impression will be hot. When it become a must, combine it with brighter colors. Application of white color on the other elements of the bedroom is strongly recommended.

A Tempo House which is located in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil actually is a redesign project by Gisele Taranto Arquitectura. The new house design should be matched with the surrounding plantation. A big tree still be maintain and become interesting point near the outdoor swimming pool.

For the interior design, Gisele Taranto Arquitectura design all the room in a big size. The living room open widely and directly connected to the garden could be contained by two set of furniture. with this concept, the use of air conditioner in this room could be eliminated. For the dinning room, also designed with a big size, can be used by twelve family member. Two hang lamps are placed in the center of dinning table.

A master bedroom consist of a king size bed and two relax chairs with contrast color. Even seen full of furniture but this room is far from narrow nuance. To access the second floor, the architects design floating stairs, with special technique, we will see that this stairs is look like without support, just foot step which is drawn up.

Another wonderful design of DADA for this house is found in the bathroom, actually this is a dry bathroom design. So to eliminate water spoiler during take a bath, a transparent glass shower is placed inside, very romantic and full of passion. In the opposite, we can find a elongated ceramic basin and jumbo mirror.

For the kitchen, DADA architects really give detail attention to the utilities. Exhaust fan was installed to ensure that cooking activity will not give odor inside the house. A mini bar is designed for the dinning table also.

Palm Beach House is dominated by high quality wood material which has good resistant to the sea water. The open space concept is used for this beach house to expose and get maximal benefit from beach view, but for the private space such as master bathroom is still get enough privacy. Good combination of public and private space.

Because the use of metal is not suitable for sea environment, that’s way wood and plastic furniture are chosen to decorate palm beach house. To get harmony with surrounding view, the architects use natural color such as brown from the wood, blue from the water and white from the sky.

With U-shape configuration, this house has an internal courtyard which could be accessed from all living spaces and connected to the swimming pool. There are two separate sites which can be used to access this two storey house; a common entrance and a driveway. Even though this house use an open space concept, the private space become something important. A perforated wall is used by the architects to separate the private space from the public forecourt.

Interior design could be described as follows; in the central volume we will be amazed by the use of spiral stair, this is very brilliant idea I think. Dominated by white and bright color, this main living room looks so well designed and full of artistic touch, again especially for spiral stair. In the north of this house, the architects nested a living room, kitchen and private garden, while the west side is for games room, pool and gym. U-shaped of this house makes all of the spaces above to the main courtyard which in turn connects back to the main house and its living spaces.

The facade of two storey house designed by SAOTA is facing west, so that direct intensive sunlight will happen during afternoon until evening. A set of large shutters which drop below the level of the first floor slab, provide shade and protection from the setting sun. Special consideration was taken during selecting performance-glass that would minimise the impact of direct sun. The upper level is the floor for bedrooms and study room. We need to pass through the passage along the perforated wall that separates the house from the driveway to access the children’s bedroom
