One way to enhance the beauty of a house is by attending a garden at our courtyard. House becomes barren and gives the shady impression. Especially when the summer arrives. For this reason Lutsko Associates create a garden on an urban residential in San Fransisco. The concept of this project is outdoor architecture for everyday living, maximizes the impact and experience of a small space. The sunlight can breakthrough this garden easily because of no roofs on this garden. Other advantage is we can enjoy the garden from second levels balcony instead of from the inside of the house. The design pays careful attention to the sensory experience of materials and planting, which contribute to the richness and beauty of the garden.

Slightly different from previous postings that many reviews about the design of the house, this time I tried to pick up the topic of home gardens. As we know that garden is an important element to add the beauty of the house, so need a match between house style with a garden type.

Courtyard garden is one of simple garden type that only needs small area of our house, usually we place it in front of a house, on the left or right side of the house, or even in the center of the house. Simple and no need a lot of time to maintain it. But we have participated on global warming preventing program, beside decorating our house.

This home is made by Australian architect, Dane Richardson in Eagle Bay, West Australia. The living room become main core of the building. Large glazing as a building element, make this home utilize low energy for the lighting and opens the view directly to the valley.

The north facing terrace which built on “fire pit” become the focus of all outside entertaining. The open “fire pit” provides a fantastic place to sit and star gaze in the evening.
