Archimania had designed this minimalist home in 2005 for its client Pantik Home Builders. Orange House is the name of a house which was built on 2,833 SF total area. The concept of this project was to create modern home conducive to urban family life, set in a New Urban community on the edge of Downtown Memphis.

The house is divided into three primary parts based on each part function, each rendered in its own material. The front elevation is composed of an orange-clad corrugated metal volume cantilevered over the lower level, clad in cementitious panels. Entry is made between the primary orange mass and secondary mass housing the office, rendered in redwood.

Electricity crisis now become an issue in all of the world. A lot of new resource already found to replace fossil fuel to generate electricity. As we know that fossil fuel emit CO2 and accelerate global warming. This issue was responded by the students of Technische Universitat Darmstadt in Germany. They designed a house completed with solar cell panel as an energy source. The goal of this design is become efficient in energy consumption and no waste for it’s electricity, even it can produce more electricity than its load of consumption. That’s good for saving our earth from global warming and solving electricity crisis.

The team of Technische Universitat Darmstadt designed this solar cell house to join in Solar Decathlon competition and they won the top prize. The team took to the drawing board and came up with this sustainable architecture project: two-storey, cube-shaped house, with a facade and roof clad in solar cells which will produce 200 per cent of the home’s energy. This eco house design is also highly insulated and equipped with automated-louver window shades to reduce unwanted heat-gain. Furthermore, this sun powered home incorporates smart features such as hide-away furniture and appliances, or those with multiple uses to make the most of every resource available. hill house10 The Hill House, Idea From David Coleman Architecture

David Coleman Architecture designed The Hill House with the simple shape but looks like perfectly blend with surrounding condition. Built on a long, narrow and rocky hillside, this house give other experiences for people who stay inside. Far away from the bustle is one of what this hill house offered.

Why I said that this hill house is quite simple, it’s because this house is only like a shelter formed by the east wall and the roof only. Other side is made from steel frame and glasses. The building reads and lives like a habitable landscape, adapting to the changing seasons and needs of its occupants. In short, this is a modest, sustainable building with a big presence in a big landscape.
